CD Action MeetUp: Gothic Edition

,

Not long ago, we had the opportunity to participate in a unique event - Meet Up: Gothic Edition, which we were invited to by CD-Action. The event took place on 01/02/2025 in Warsaw’s H.4.0.S club on Marszałkowska 64 Street. We had the pleasure of briefly presenting our project - The Story of Nek. This unique event connected many Gothic fans and mod authors, creating an unforgettable atmosphere full of passion and engagement.

Let’s start with a shortened version of our presentation. Besides the information we have already shared with you about our progress - we spoke about the gossip system, which we are planning to add to the game. It will work in the following way: It will involve the player being able to eavesdrop on various characters' conversations, which until now have been known as small talk. I think everyone remembers small talk such as “My husband thinks differently” or “Who says such things.” Of course, we will have similar small talk. However, the player will be able to meet some characters who, depending on the current affairs of the game, will comment on the fictional events and more. Besides this, the player will be able to hear something that will lead them to the solution to their quest or will begin another random event. Not bad, ey? But this is only the beginning of the presentation. We also mentioned that Nek will be engaged in the everyday life of the Old Camp, but what comes with it? He will be able to partake in receiving deliveries. We also announced over 100 quests, five chapters, and full polish dubbing. Additionally, we showed: the structure of our project, which tools we use, and screenshots of the map. We are happy to receive positive feedback from our presentation and many questions from the audience. If you are interested in the entirety of the presentation, we welcome you to a video of it.

Besides our project, there were many other interesting attractions. We had the opportunity to play the demo version of the Golden Gate 2: Goddess Heart. The Golden Gate team presented their progress on their modification work. The events of the mod take place several years after the first one, and the player finds himself in the shoes of Morris, the hunter. The mod takes place on the island of Samoa, a part of the Kingdom of Elei, which hides many secrets tied to the ancient cultists of the goddess Hatiret. The modification offers a new map to explore, an expanded fiction with many choices influencing history, and 70 non-linear quests with full polish dubbing. If you are interested, they have published a presentation of the characters' voices on their channel.

The Veritas team showed their ambitious project, Veritas RP - an internet role-play server in the Gothic universe. The creators added mechanics from the GTA universe to the world of Gothic, focusing on simple solutions that should easily become familiar to those new to the world of RP. The fiction is based on the city of Veritas, a fief kingdom of Myrtana that deals with the orc war and internal crisis.

During the event came an unexpected team, which surprised Gothic fans. It turns out that there has been a new animated series in the works for some time, based on the world of the Nameless Hero. The story is focused on Jarkendar from the expansion “Night of the Raven” to Gothic 2. The story will take the viewers to the glory days of the region. The fiction of “Sons of Jarkendar” will focus on the increasing social tensions in Jarkendar, caused by the discovery of a tribe living in a region rich in magic ore. The action of the series takes place on the island of Karynis, about 1000 years before the events of the first Gothic game and simultaneously 13 years after the war of Jarkandar dwellers with the orcs.

Towards the end of the attractions, a film called “A Guard’s Story” a production of the channel Doktor Borginson, was planned. The film, based on the Gothic universe, moved the audience with intriguing fiction and references to the game's characters and events. In the film, we can hear Jarosław Boberek and Mirosław Zbrojewicz as narrators. It’s also worth mentioning the members of Larp Gothic, who take the role of characters from the Mining Colony. After the screening, the creators answered questions from the public, sharing behind the scenes of the production.

We warmly thank the organizers for the invitation and all the part-takers for the warm reception. Your support and interest gave us the energy to continue working on “The Story of Nek.” We are impatiently waiting for another opportunity to meet you and the fans and share further developments of our work with you. See you at future events. A full conclusion of the event can be found in the article on CD-Action’s page.
